Metlife Bangladesh unveils health insurance with refund option

MetLife Bangladesh has introduced an affordable health insurance product designed to provide comprehensive protection against 10 critical illnesses that carry high treatment costs.
The new solution, MetLife Critical Illness Insurance with Return of Premium (MCII-ROP), offers coverage for kidney failure, end-stage liver failure, stroke, cancer (excluding skin cancer), first heart attack, coronary artery surgery, severe coronary artery disease, heart valve surgery or replacement, primary pulmonary arterial hypertension and non-cancerous brain tumour.
By focusing on specific critical illnesses, the product enables customers to enjoy lower premiums compared to broader life insurance policies. For example, a 30-year-old male purchasing a policy with Tk5 lakh coverage could pay as little as Tk1,402 per month, subject to confirmation of good health. Policyholders can choose from one-time, quarterly, semi-annual or annual premium payment options.
In addition to critical illness coverage, the policy provides 100% of the coverage amount in case of accidental death. Policyholders will also receive a full refund of premiums upon policy maturity or in the event of death from causes not covered by the plan. The coverage amount can range from Tk3 lakh to Tk20 lakh.
"Introduction of this new health insurance reflects our efforts to bring in innovative and affordable solutions to protect our customers in the moments that matter most," said Ala Ahmad, Chief Executive Officer of MetLife Bangladesh. "At the same time, customers can rely on MetLife's excellent track record of settling claims within three to five days."
The launch reinforces MetLife Bangladesh's focus on expanding access to affordable financial protection while maintaining a strong reputation for efficient claims settlement.
