Walton wins ICSB corporate governance award for fifth time
Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC, a listed technology company and Superbrand, has received the ICSB National Award for Corporate Governance Excellence for the fifth consecutive time and the ICMAB Best Corporate Award for the fourth consecutive time, recognising its commitment to strong corporate governance, transparency and accountability.
To celebrate the achievements, Walton organised a programme titled "Celebrating Corporate Award Achievements" at its corporate office in Bashundhara, Dhaka, on Saturday, 10 January, 2026.
Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank Dr Md Habibur Rahman attended the event as the chief guest, while Chairman of the Investment Corporation of Bangladesh Professor Abu Ahmed was present as a special guest.
Vice-Chairman of Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC S M Ashraful Alam, Managing Director S M Mahbubul Alam and other senior officials of the company were also present. Deputy Managing Director and Company Secretary Md Rafiqul Islam FCS delivered the welcome address.
Congratulating Walton on receiving multiple corporate governance recognitions, Dr Md Habibur Rahman said Walton is ahead of many global brands in terms of product quality, state-of-the-art technology and affordability. He said Walton's contribution to Bangladesh's economy is significant, noting that the company has reduced import dependency and is earning foreign currency through exports.
He expressed optimism that Walton would further strengthen its position in the global market through the production and export of AI- and IoT-based high-tech products.
Speaking at the event, Professor Abu Ahmed said Walton has transformed Bangladesh's electronics market, which was once dominated by foreign brands. He said Walton's production capacity, workforce and factory management demonstrate that Bangladesh is capable of manufacturing high-tech products. He also emphasised the need for supportive government policies and tax incentives to help fundamentally strong companies like Walton expand further.
Managing Director of Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC S M Mahbubul Alam said the company ensures strict compliance across all operations, including factory establishment, production processes, workplace management, financial reporting and tax payments. He said Walton is among the leading companies in South Asia in practising good corporate governance and was therefore honoured with the SAFA Gold Award.
He also noted that Walton's Mold and Die Factory Complex has achieved LEED Platinum certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, recognising its sustainable development practices, efficient use of energy and water resources, and environmentally responsible factory operations.
In addition, Walton has received the Excellence in Investment Award 2025 and the SDG Brand Champion Award 2025 for its clean energy and sustainability initiatives. He said the company has installed the country's largest floating solar power project at its factory premises and has taken steps to establish Bangladesh's first lithium-ion battery manufacturing plant using modern green technology.
Vice-Chairman S M Ashraful Alam, in his closing remarks, said Walton never compromises on compliance and has consistently maintained transparency in workplace practices, production, financial reporting and tax payments. He said recognition from professional bodies such as ICAB, ICSB and ICMAB reflects the company's commitment to ethical corporate practices.
The celebration concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony marking Walton's achievement of the ICSB National Award for Corporate Governance Excellence for five consecutive times and the ICMAB Best Corporate Award for four consecutive times.
