Labaid Director Wasif Farhan Shayer appointed BTTF vice-president
Barrister Wasif Farhan Shayer, a director of healthcare provider LabAid Group, has been appointed vice-president of the Bangladesh Table Tennis Federation (BTTF).
According to a government notification issued on 22 January 2026 and signed by Md Daulatuzzaman Khan, executive director (joint secretary) of the National Sports Council, the federation's ad hoc committee has been reconstituted after one year. Barrister Shayer replaced Khandaker Hasan Munir Suman as vice-president.
Barrister Shayer is a regular table tennis player. In the 40th National Table Tennis Tournament, which ended on 16 January, he advanced to the round of 64. He is also involved in sports organisation. In 2022, he founded a table tennis club, "Futures Sporting Club", which participates in the Metropolitan League and organises training programmes and tournaments.
The current ad hoc committee is chaired by Engineer M H Zaman, managing director of Micro Fiber Group. Former national champion Begum Tahmina Tarmin Binu is also a vice-president.
Captain A M Maksud Ahmed (Sonet) is the general secretary, former national medallist Nasimul Hasan Kochi is the joint secretary, and former national champion Md Ibrahim Hossain is the treasurer.
Other members include Dr Ataia Rabbi Mahmud Iman, Begum Pia Afrina Khaleda Haque, Chattogram organiser Abu Sufian Noman, ITTF Level-Two coach Md Mainul Islam Chishti, Mohsinul Alam Jhinu, Ahmed Ullah, Kazi Muhammad Asif, Sujon Mahmud, University of Dhaka table tennis team captain Md Nazmul Hossain, and representatives from BKSP and the Army Sports Control Board.
