KOICA Bangladesh Alumni Association (KBAA), in partnership with the KOICA Bangladesh Office, organised a knowledge-sharing seminar on consumer rights protection at the Directorate of National Consumers' Right Protection (DNCRP) premises in Dhaka.

The seminar aimed to foster stronger collaboration between Korea and Bangladesh in the field of consumer rights through expert exchange and meaningful dialogue.

Mr Alim Akhter Khan extended his heartfelt appreciation to KOICA for its continued support in developing the capacity of DNCRP officials and expressed optimism for deeper bilateral cooperation in the future.

In his address, Mr Kim Junsu remarked, "We firmly believe that investing in people is the cornerstone of sustainable development. Each year, through KOICA's Fellowship Programme, we provide Bangladeshi government officials with advanced educational opportunities and practical learning in Korea."

The seminar featured a keynote presentation by Mr Fakir Muhammad Munawar Hossain, Director (Deputy Secretary), Operations and Laboratories Department, DNCRP. A KOICA Fellow under the ongoing programme titled "Capacity Building for Improvement and Specialisation of Consumer Protection (2023–2025)", Mr Hossain shared strategic insights and best practices learned during his training in Korea.

A significant highlight of the event was the announcement that three senior DNCRP officials have been nominated to participate in the KOICA Fellowship Programme in Korea, scheduled for 8–21 June 2025. Conducted by the Korea Consumer Agency under KOICA's Capacity Improvement and Advancement for Tomorrow (CIAT) initiative, the programme aims to enhance institutional competencies in consumer protection.

The upcoming training will cover- Consumer counselling and redress mechanisms, Collective dispute resolution and landmark case studies, Scientific testing and evaluation of consumer products, Market surveillance and investigation to ensure transparency, Implementation of Consumer-Centred Management (CCM) frameworks.

The event concluded with an interactive session among KOICA alumni, DNCRP officials, and key stakeholders, reaffirming KOICA's commitment to sustainable partnerships and institutional development in Bangladesh through knowledge sharing and human capital investment.
