KOICA brings partners together to boost WFK volunteer programme
The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Bangladesh Office held the 2026 World Friends Korea (WFK) Host Organisation Workshop at Sheraton Hotel, Banani, Dhaka, on 11 June 2026.
The event brought together representatives of Technical Training Centres (TTCs), university language institutes, Korean language teachers and host organisation partners to strengthen collaboration under the WFK Volunteer Programme.
Distinguished guests included Ireen Pervin, Deputy Secretary of the Economic Relations Division (ERD), and Engr Mohammad Nuruzzaman, Deputy Director, Training, Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET).
KOICA Bangladesh Country Director Jihoon Kim presided over the opening ceremony, emphasising the importance of partnerships with host organisations in making volunteer contributions effective and impactful.
He also highlighted Korean cultural exchange through the WFK Volunteer Programme in Bangladesh.
Ireen Pervin, representing the Economic Relations Division, a key stakeholder in the programme, praised the collaborative efforts of all partner institutions and encouraged participants to share insights to strengthen the programme's sustainability.
Discussion sessions throughout the day focused on cultural cooperation and future collaboration with WFK partner organisations.
Participants from different institutions across the country shared their views through group discussions on the core competencies expected of volunteers.
The closing remarks were delivered by KOICA Bangladesh Deputy Country Director Junsu Kim.
This year's workshop featured expanded participation from TTCs and university language institutes across Bangladesh, all of which host KOICA volunteers in Korean language instruction, reflecting the programme's growing reach in human resource development.
