J dot launches perfumes named after Mushfiqur Rahim, Taskin Ahmed
If a product is named after a favourite star, it is likely to attract extra attention from fans. Capitalising on that appeal, J Dot has signed Mushfiqur Rahim and Taskin Ahmed as brand ambassadors and introduced two fragrance lines aligned with their on-field identities.
Mushfiqur's long-time jersey number, 15—closely associated with his public persona—has been incorporated into the product names. The company has launched MR15 and MR15 Bold.
For Taskin, known for his pace and aggressive bounce, the fragrances have been branded Strike and Strike Pride, reflecting his fast-bowling image.
Cricket-inspired design
In a recent interview, Taskin spoke about the design concept behind the bottles, noting that cricket symbols were intentionally incorporated into the packaging.
"My two perfume bottles have two balls in the middle because I am a fast bowler. One has a red ball and the other has a white ball—two fragrances, two flavours. At the price at which they are being sold, I hope everyone will like them," he said.
Mushfiqur stated that he was involved in selecting the fragrance profile.
"J Dot has brought to market a perfume with the kind of flavour I like. I developed it together with the company," he said.
J Dot's view on Bangladeshi stars
Sohail Hamid Khan, Chairman, Owner, and CEO of J Dot Group (Junaid Jamshed Pvt. Ltd.), stated that the fragrances named after Bangladeshi cricket stars are among the company's notable additions, and expressed confidence they would be well received by perfume enthusiasts in Bangladesh.
The company also noted that it has previously launched celebrity fragrances in South Asia named after sports personalities, including Wasim Akram, Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik, and Sania Mirza. It stated that its portfolio spans more than a hundred fragrances across men's, women's, unisex, woody, and attar categories.
Beyond perfumes
J Dot is not limited to fragrances, with lifestyle lines that include apparel, jewellery, and cosmetics. The brand began its journey in 2002, founded by Pakistani artist and fashion designer Junaid Jamshed, and the company claims operations in around 150 countries.
In Bangladesh, it currently operates outlets in Banani, Dhanmondi, and Uttara, allowing customers to purchase products directly.
Star power meets scent
Turning a public persona into a branded fragrance is not merely a marketing strategy—it is also an attempt to connect with fan sentiment. Mushfiqur's steadiness and Taskin's speed—two distinct cricket archetypes—have now been packaged into fragrance lines aimed at giving fans a new way to feel closer to their favourite players beyond match day.
