ISU signs mou with GIIM to expand global opportunities
International Standard University (ISU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Global Institute for IT Management (GIIM) in the USA, aimed at expanding global collaboration in IT education and management.
The signing ceremony was held on Thursday evening at ISU's Mohakhali campus. Mohammad Faizullah Kawshik, Registrar of ISU, and Professor Dr Jerry Luftman, Founder and Managing Director of GIIM, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective institutions.
Professor Mohammad Abul Kashem, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, and Professor Dr Md Hakikur Rahman, Chairperson of the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) Department, were present as distinguished guests.
As part of the MoU, ISU students will be eligible to pursue master's programmes through GIIM with special tuition waivers. Students will have the opportunity to take courses from GIIM and its affiliated US universities, leading to a Master's in Information Systems (IS) or an MBA degree.
The partnership also paves the way for a broad range of academic collaborations, including joint research, training initiatives, international conferences, faculty and student exchanges, and cooperative projects in the field of IT management.
Professor Luftman expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating that global academic partnerships are crucial in a rapidly evolving technological landscape. He emphasised the need to equip students with globally recognised skills that match the pace of digital transformation worldwide.
"This collaboration reflects our commitment to providing students with an education that goes beyond borders," said Professor Mohammad Abul Kashem. "We aim to prepare our graduates for leadership roles in a competitive and dynamic global job market."
The MoU is part of ISU's broader strategy to internationalise its curriculum and strengthen industry-relevant academic programmes. By aligning with global institutions like GIIM, the university hopes to enhance the quality and reach of its educational offerings in information technology and management.
