Ovijatrik RUET adventure club holds Rajshahi’s third marathon
Ovijatrik – RUET Adventure Club is set to organise its second marathon, also marking Rajshahi's third ever marathon, on 9 January.
Formed with the vision of connecting students of Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) and building a wider community, Ovijatrik – RUET Adventure Club aims to encourage exploration, resilience, and personal growth through collective journeys across Bangladesh.
Ovijatrik Marathon 2.0 seeks to connect the people, culture, and natural beauty of Rajshahi with participants from across the country. Runners from different districts, alongside local participants, will take part in the event, making it an inclusive gathering. For the city of Rajshahi, this will be the third marathon hosted, following the successful Ovijatrik Marathon 1.0 held last year.
This year's marathon will feature two race categories: a 10-kilometre fun run and a 21-kilometre half marathon. The race will start from the central library of RUET, with routes passing through the city's green roads. Over 400 participants have already registered for the event.
Registered runners will receive a jersey, bib number, certificate, and medal upon completing the race within the stipulated cut-off time. A total prize money of BDT 41,000 has been announced for the winners.
The marathon is being supported by organisations that promote movement and youth empowerment. Mazidsons Constructions Ltd has joined as co-power sponsor, while Consummate Engineering and Solutions Ltd is the strategic partner. Mentors is supporting the event as the learning partner, and Macaw has come on board as the food partner.
The Business Standard is the print and media partner for the event, while TBS Graduates is supporting it as the youth engagement partner.
The organisers said the event invites participants to run together, push personal limits, and be part of a journey that goes beyond the finish line.
