North South University holds 26th convocation
North South University (NSU) held its 26th Convocation on 7 January 2026 at the university campus, marking a significant academic milestone for the institution and its graduating students.
The adviser to the Ministry of Education, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar, attended the ceremony as the convocation chair. Chairman of the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh, Professor SMA Faiz, delivered the convocation address, while Mohammad Anwar Hossen, member of the commission, was present as a special guest.
A total of 3,322 undergraduate and graduate students were conferred degrees at the convocation. Among them, the Department of Architecture celebrated the graduation of 36 students, reflecting the department's continued commitment to academic excellence and professional rigour.
Of the graduating architecture students, five achieved cum laude, four earned magna cum laude, and one received the summa cum laude distinction.
Nahin Iqbal Chowdhury achieved the highest CGPA in the Department of Architecture and was awarded summa cum laude, marking a notable academic accomplishment.
Parents and family members of the graduating students attended the ceremony, many of whom expressed satisfaction with the academic environment and institutional support provided by North South University. Appreciation was also extended to the Department of Architecture, particularly Shahriar Iqbal Raj, chair of the department, and faculty members Professor Dr Saiful Islam, Professor Dr Sharif Shams Imon, and Professor Mujtaba Ahsan, who were present at the ceremony and took part in the distribution of certificates.
The achievements of the Department of Architecture graduates at the 26th Convocation highlight NSU's role in nurturing future architects equipped with strong academic foundations, ethical values, and professional competence to contribute to the built environment in Bangladesh and beyond.
