India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry AGM held
Business leaders stress sustainable Indo-Bangla trade
Business leaders reaffirmed continued dedication to fostering stronger economic ties, mutual cooperation, and sustainable partnership between Bangladesh and India during the upcoming days.
Members of the India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IBCCI) have expressed this view at the 18th annual general meeting (AGM) of IBCCI in the city on Tuesday, said a press release.
The AGM was presided over by M Shoeb Chowdhury, Vice-President (In Routine Presidential Charge), who guided the proceedings and addressed the members on the importance of strengthening bilateral trade and economic cooperation between India and Bangladesh.
According to the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), India was Bangladesh's eighth largest export market in the 2024–25 fiscal year. In this fiscal, Bangladesh exported goods worth USD 1.76 billion (USD 176 crore) to India, which is 12.43 per cent higher compared to the previous fiscal.

India's export to Bangladesh stood at US$ 11.46 billion in FY25 and US$ 11.06 billion in FY24.
The AGM was attended by Honorary Secretary General, Amit Kumar; former President and Director, Mohammad Ali; Honorary Joint Secretary General, Abdul Wahed; members of the outgoing Board of Directors; as well as the President, Moshiur Rahman, and members of the newly elected Board of Directors for the term 2025–2027.
During the meeting, all statutory and regular agenda items were presented, reviewed, and duly approved with active, spontaneous, and enthusiastic participation from the members. Reports on the Chamber's activities, achievements, and financial matters were discussed in detail, reflecting transparency and collective commitment toward the growth of IBCCI, said S M Abul Kalam Azad, Secretary General of IBCCI.
The Director, Mohammad Ali Deen, requested the annual general meeting to reaffirm the newly constituted Advisory Council as adopted at the IBCCI board meeting held on 17 December 2025: Abdul Matlub Ahmad, former President; Mohammad Ali, former President; Taskeen Ahmed, former President; Dewan Sultan Ahmed, former Vice-President, M. Shoeb Chowdhury, former Vice-President; Abhishekh Das, former Vice-President; Sanjay Basu, Former Vice-President, Amit Kumar, Former Honorary Secretary General and Md. Abdul Wahed – Former Honorary Joint Secretary General
The AGM concluded on an optimistic and forward-looking note, with members expressing confidence that the newly elected Board of Directors will play a proactive role in further expanding trade, investment, and business collaboration between India and Bangladesh.
