AmCham, IBCCI recall Khaleda Zia’s democratic legacy
Business organisations have expressed deep shock and sorrow at the passing of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister, Begum Khaleda Zia.
AmCham Bangladesh expressed its condolences, recalling her role in national leadership and democratic development.
"Remembering her exemplary national leadership and democratic legacy in shaping the economy, education, and nation-building," said Syed Ershad Ahmed, President of AmCham Bangladesh.
The India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IBCCI) also expressed deep shock at her passing, describing Begum Khaleda Zia as a key figure in Bangladesh's modern political history.
In a condolence message issued on Tuesday, Md Moshiur Rahman, President of IBCCI, stated that Begum Khaleda Zia's unwavering dedication to public service and commitment to democratic values had left a lasting impact on the nation.
"As the first female Prime Minister of Bangladesh, she broke barriers and paved the way for women in leadership, inspiring generations with her courage and resilience," the statement read.
The IBCCI noted that throughout her political career, Begum Khaleda Zia faced numerous challenges with determination, consistently working to uphold democratic principles and promote public welfare.
Her leadership, vision, and steadfast commitment to democracy will be remembered with respect, the chamber stated, adding that the loss is irreplaceable.
"On behalf of IBCCI, we extend our deepest condolences to her family, followers, and the people of Bangladesh," Md Moshiur Rahman stated, praying for eternal peace for the departed soul.
