Huawei launches advanced energy storage system for solar power in bangladesh

Huawei has introduced an advanced intelligent energy storage system (ESS) to support the growing use of solar power in Bangladesh. The new solution, the LUNA2000-215 ESS, was unveiled by Ni Xiaopeng (Liam), Managing Director of Huawei South Asia Digital Power Business, at the 'Huawei Digital Power Partner Summit 2025' held at Huawei Bangladesh Academy in Dhaka.

In response to Bangladesh's increasing demand for electricity, emphasis has been placed on expanding solar power initiatives at both government and private levels. However, the absence of efficient energy storage solutions has posed a major challenge for these solar projects. Huawei's new ESS addresses this gap with state-of-the-art technology.

The LUNA2000-215 system is a highly efficient N+1 generation Liquid/Air Intelligent Cooling ESS, capable of operating in both on-grid and off-grid modes. In the event of power outages, it seamlessly switches to off-grid mode to ensure uninterrupted electricity for critical operations. While in on-grid mode, a reserve State of Charge (SOC) can be maintained for emergency use.

With a round-trip efficiency of 91.3%, the system benefits from advanced regulation and hybrid cooling algorithms. Its Pack-Level Optimisation 2.0 enhances energy efficiency by enabling real-time active balancing without the need for charge and discharge restrictions. This eliminates the short-board effect and increases usable energy by 2% over the product's lifecycle.

More than 100 partner representatives from engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) companies attended the event, which also served as a platform for knowledge exchange and strategic collaboration.

Key speakers included Wu Ji (Jason), President of Huawei South Asia and CEO of Huawei Bangladesh; Ni Xiaopeng (Liam), Managing Director of Huawei South Asia Digital Power Business; and Ren Jianyu (Jamison), Director of Huawei South Asia Digital Power Partner Business.

Ni Xiaopeng said, "Our new energy storage system has been launched to enhance the efficiency and reliability of solar power plants in Bangladesh. This innovation will enable greater renewable energy generation at lower costs. Through this summit, we aim to foster collaboration to accelerate the country's green energy transition."

Md Rashedul Karim, Country Head of Kingsun Bangladesh, an EPC partner of Huawei, said, "Huawei's new ESS will transform Bangladesh's solar power sector. It will not only increase energy efficiency and utilisation but also allow EPC companies like us to deliver greater value to clients through smarter, more reliable solutions."

Huawei has been a long-term partner of Bangladesh in the renewable energy sector. Since 2021, the company has contributed to multiple key projects, including a 100 MW solar power project in Mymensingh and the country's first and largest microgrid in Monpura Upazila of Bhola with a capacity of 22 MW. In 2023 alone, Huawei implemented over 72 solar rooftop projects in various private institutions, and in 2024, it launched five new digital power products in Bangladesh. The newly unveiled LUNA2000-215 is Huawei's second ESS solution introduced in the country.
