HBL celebrates 50 years of operations in Bangladesh
HBL marked 50 years of operations in Bangladesh, highlighting five decades of support for trade, investment and financial flows while connecting the country's businesses with international markets.
The bank hosted celebrations in Dhaka, inviting clients, regulators, business leaders and senior executives, including HBL Chairman Sultan Ali Allana and President and CEO Muhammad Nassir Salim, according to a press release.
Since beginning operations in Bangladesh in 1976, HBL has grown alongside its customers, supporting businesses and financial institutions in domestic and international markets. The bank said Bangladesh's growing global trade and investment links create opportunities to use its international network and expertise to meet clients' evolving needs.HBHBL said it is one of three banks from South Asia and the Middle East and North Africa region offering end-to-end renminbi (RMB) intermediation in China, giving businesses in Bangladesh access to cross-border financial services. Its Beijing branch is the bank's second in China and serves as its managing branch there. Both the Beijing and Urumqi branches hold foreign exchange and RMB licences, enabling them to meet customers' requirements in multiple currencies. The bank said its presence in China allows it to engage with state-owned enterprises and leading financial institutions involved in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and across Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) corridors.
Customers in Pakistan, Bangladesh, the Maldives, Singapore, Sri Lanka, the UAE, Kenya and other countries can access HBL's products and services in their home markets and in China.
MaMarking the anniversary, HBL reaffirmed its commitment to Bangladesh and its support for clients as they pursue new opportunities, expand across markets and strengthen international business relationships. The bank said it would continue to draw on its regional network and capabilities to support Bangladesh's next phase of growth.
