DSCC chief emphasises efficiency, accountability in public service
Newly appointed Administrator of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Md Mahmudul Hasan, ndc, has urged officials to enhance the quality of civic services through professionalism, dedication, sincerity, and greater public participation.
He made the call at a view-sharing meeting with senior DSCC officials held at Nagar Bhaban on Tuesday.
In pursuance of sub-section (1) of section 25A of the Local Government (City Corporation) (Amendment) Ordinance 2024, a government notification issued on 2 November appointed Md Mahmudul Hasan, Director General of the Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Inspection Division of the Ministry of Local Government, as the Administrator of DSCC in addition to his existing duties. Under sub-section (3) of section 25A, the Administrator will exercise the powers and perform the functions of the Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation.
Addressing the meeting, the DSCC Administrator said, "The City Corporation, as the focal point of civic service delivery, directly affects the lives of citizens from all walks of life. Given the importance and sensitivity of our responsibilities in the capital, we must strive to bring our services closer to the people through maximum effort, despite resource limitations."
He emphasised citizen engagement and verification of public feedback under the leadership of regional executive officers to ensure timely completion of key projects, including birth and death registration, dengue control, and waste management.
DSCC Chief Executive Officer Md Zahirul Islam, Secretary Muhammad Shafiqul Islam, department heads, supervising engineers, and regional executive officers attended the meeting.
