Dhaka Bank organises staff event to boost sustainability

Dhaka Bank Training Institute (DBTI), in collaboration with the bank's Sustainable Finance Unit (SFU), recently organised a day-long training titled "Awareness Raising Event on Sustainable and Green Finance, Green Refinance Schemes, Climate Finance, ESRM Guidelines and Sustainable Finance Reporting" at the DBTI premises.
The programme aimed to build institutional capacity on sustainable finance practices and reinforce Dhaka Bank PLC's commitment to climate action and responsible banking. A total of 31 participants from various Divisions, Units, and Branches of the bank took part in the initiative.
The event was inaugurated by Mr Mukarram Hossain Chowdhury, SEVP and Head of the Credit Risk Management (CRM) Division of Dhaka Bank PLC, who emphasised the importance of integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles into core banking operations.
Throughout the day, participants engaged in in-depth sessions led by experienced professionals from the sector. Key topics included green refinance schemes, climate finance mechanisms, Environmental and Social Risk Management (ESRM) guidelines, and sustainable finance reporting standards.
The programme was designed not only to familiarise employees with emerging trends and regulatory expectations in sustainable finance, but also to encourage cross-functional dialogue on how green banking practices can be effectively incorporated into decision-making processes.
The event concluded with an interactive feedback session, where attendees shared their reflections and pledged to contribute meaningfully to the bank's sustainability vision. The session also outlined future training and capacity-building priorities for wider institutional adoption of sustainable practices.
Dhaka Bank PLC continues to make strides towards responsible banking by embedding sustainability across its operations, products, and risk assessment frameworks, in alignment with the guidelines of the Bangladesh Bank and global climate goals.
