Dhaka, Bangkok discuss stronger industrial cooperation
Thailand is seeking to deepen industrial and commercial engagement with Bangladesh, citing the latter's robust economic growth and favourable investment environment.
The issue was discussed during a courtesy call today by Thai Ambassador to Bangladesh, Thitiporn Chirasawadi, on Industries Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir at the ministry in Dhaka, according to a press release.
Discussions centred on advancing bilateral industrial cooperation, expanding investment opportunities, facilitating technology transfer from Thailand to boost productivity in Bangladesh's agriculture and fisheries sectors, and exploring the development potential of small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
Muktadir noted significant scope exists to deepen trade and investment relations between the two countries.
He highlighted joint venture opportunities in sectors such as food processing, light engineering, and tourism-related industries.
The minister highlighted that government industry-friendly policies and ongoing infrastructure development have created a favourable climate for foreign investors.
He invited Thai investors to capitalise on these emerging opportunities.
Ambassador Chirasawadi praised Bangladesh's rapid economic trajectory, noting the country's rising appeal among international investors.
She reaffirmed Thailand's commitment to broadening industrial and commercial ties with Bangladesh.
Both sides expressed optimism about future collaboration, including the exchange of business delegations and continued dialogue to advance joint initiatives.
Secretary of the Ministry of Industries Md Obaidur Rahman and other senior officials from the ministry and the Thai embassy were also present.
