Prime Bank PLC, in collaboration with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), has launched the "Prime Bank National School Cricket 2025–26" tournament, marking a decade of dedicated support for grassroots cricket.
The latest edition brings together 350 schools from all 64 districts, engaging over 8,500 young cricketers across 651 matches. District-level fixtures commenced on 10 April, with divisional and national rounds to follow.
A press conference and jersey unveiling took place at the BCB Media Centre on Thursday, 9 April 2026. Prime Bank PLC was represented by Additional Managing Director M Nazeem A Choudhury, while the BCB delegation included former national captain and chief selector Habibul Bashar Sumon, national Test captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto, and national player Tawhid Hridoy.
M Nazeem A Choudhury commented, "Several cricketers who began their journey through school cricket have already reached the highest level, which is a matter of pride for us. Grassroots cricket is integral to the development of the game in Bangladesh, and Prime Bank is proud to invest in this platform. Our decade-long support for school cricket is both a privilege and a commitment. We commend the BCB for its continued success in organising the tournament."
Since 2015, the Prime Bank National School Cricket tournament has engaged 3,507 schools nationwide. Over 6,195 matches have been contested, featuring 76,235 participants—making it the largest grassroots cricket platform in Bangladesh.
At the close of each season, Prime Bank awards scholarships to top performers, selected by BCB age-group selectors. For 2025–26, the number of scholarships has increased from 15 to 25, with the annual amount doubled to Tk120,000.
