Club notredamians elects executive committee for 2026–27 term
The Executive Committee of Club Notredamians Bangladesh Limited, the alumni association of Notre Dame College, has been elected for the 2026–27 term through a democratic voting process.
The club's 4th to 9th Annual General Meetings (AGMs) were held on Saturday at the Father Peixotto Banquet Hall in Banani. Voting took place after the AGMs and continued from 10:00am to 5:00pm in a festive and orderly atmosphere.
In the presidential election, Syed Naser Bakhtiar Ahmed of the 1965 batch, Chairman of Agrani Bank Limited, was elected President after securing 485 votes. His nearest rival, Mohammad Jahirul Islam Kochi of the 1991 batch, received 145 votes.
In the election for the 10-member Executive Committee, Khaled Faisal Rahman Jitu of the 1993 batch secured the highest number of votes (607). Other elected members are: Abu Saleh Mohammad Sayem (1998 batch) with 594 votes; Sheikh Aminur Rahman Chanchol (1990 batch) with 569 votes; Sheikh Munirul Alam Tipu (1985 batch) with 555 votes; Md Nazrul Islam Mallik (1999 batch) with 543 votes; Adnan Nafis (1996 batch) with 522 votes; Saiful Islam (1992 batch) with 507 votes; Ariful Islam Chowdhury (1991 batch) with 498 votes; Dr Zobayer Hossain (2000 batch) with 460 votes; and Kazi Mohammad Mahbubul Haque (1994 batch) with 429 votes.
Among the unsuccessful candidates, Shah Mohammad Maksudul Gani (1995 batch) received 395 votes; Md Nahidul Hasan (2001 batch) received 355 votes; and Mostafizur Rahman Sujon (2004 batch) received 274 votes.
Of the 867 registered voters, 650 members—about 75%—cast their votes. A total of 20 votes in the presidential ballot and 15 votes in the Executive Committee ballot were declared invalid.
The election was conducted smoothly, transparently, and impartially by a seven-member Election Commission, led by the club's founding member Md Atikul Azam.
