Brac bank offers instant loans to marginal farmers in Nilphamari

BRAC Bank has extended instant loan facilities to marginal farmers in Nilphamari under the refinancing scheme for Tk 10, 50/100 account holders, managed by the Financial Inclusion Department (FID) of the Bangladesh Bank.
The programme, launched on August 8, 2025, aims to increase access to affordable credit for marginal farmers and support the Bangladesh Bank's broader rural financial inclusion goals.
Organised with Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank (RAKUB) as the lead bank, the event brought together 20 participating banks. Customers, local business leaders, journalists, and representatives of the local administration also attended, creating a platform for engagement between grassroots beneficiaries and financial institutions.
Abeda Rahim, Additional Director of FID at Bangladesh Bank, attended as the chief guest, while Juma Rani, Joint Director of FID, was present as the special guest.
Through this initiative, BRAC Bank demonstrated its digital platform by instantly disbursing JIBIKA Plus collateral-free loans—at 7% interest and minimal fees—to 30 marginal farmers.
Officials from Bangladesh Bank and other stakeholders commended BRAC Bank's proactive role in expanding low-cost financing for underserved farming communities.
