Brac Bank leads digital payments campaign in Moulvibazar
Bangladesh Bank organised a day-long seminar on its 'Cashless Bangladesh' initiatives in Moulvibazar, with BRAC Bank serving as the lead bank to promote digital transactions and strengthen financial awareness.
Held on 8 December 2025 at the Shilpakala Academy, the event aimed to familiarise students, teachers, businesspeople, customers, bank officials, MFS representatives, and the wider community with digital payment systems.
The programme featured seminars, panel discussions, exhibitions, and awareness campaigns, showcasing the benefits of Bangla QR and other digital transaction platforms to accelerate the country's transition from cash to digital payments.
Arief Hossain Khan, Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank, Head Office, attended as chief guest. Khaled Ahmed, Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank's Sylhet Office; and Syed Abdul Momen, Additional Managing Director and Head of SME Banking, BRAC Bank, were present as special guests. The session was presided over by Rafeza Akhter Kanta, Director of Bangladesh Bank's Payment Systems Department. Senior officials of BRAC Bank were also in attendance.
The event included detailed sessions on digital financial services, as well as promotional campaigns and roadshows to encourage customer adoption. Special emphasis was placed on Bangla QR, highlighting its advantages for enabling fast, convenient, and secure cashless transactions—vital for improving financial inclusion nationwide.
Participants expressed enthusiastic support for Bangladesh Bank's initiative and interest in similar programmes in the future. BRAC Bank's leadership role underscored its ongoing commitment to promoting financial inclusion and supporting the national move towards a cashless economy.
