BRAC Bank impacts 172,502 lives through CSR initiatives in 2025
BRAC Bank impacted 172,502 lives across Bangladesh in 2025 through its corporate social responsibility initiatives, spanning education, disability inclusion, healthcare, climate adaptation and humanitarian support.
The bank's CSR outcomes reflect a shift from activity-based interventions to outcome-led impact, strengthening communities while contributing to long-term social and economic resilience.
Under the Aporajeyo TARA scholarship programme, 807 underprivileged female students continued their higher education, while 348 aspiring women entrepreneurs received training through Uddokta 101. In addition, 35 children with disabilities of the bank's co-workers were awarded scholarships, reinforcing an inclusive organisational culture.
Through the Aporajeyo Ami initiative, 47,534 workers from corporate and SME client factories received free eye screenings and corrective glasses, supporting workforce wellbeing. In Thakurgaon and Bogura, 44,545 underprivileged individuals received free cataract surgeries, medicines and vision care. A further 3,971 people received phaco surgeries, while 7,029 free kidney dialysis sessions were provided under the Sir Abed Kidney Dialysis Fund, ensuring access to healthcare for underprivileged people nationwide.
Within the organisation, 85 co-workers received training on disability inclusion. Beyond the workplace, 75 persons with disabilities were trained in IT and multimedia skills to enhance employability. An additional 810 underprivileged individuals received limb and brace support, improving mobility and independence, while 78 people with hearing and speech impairments were trained in sewing to support sustainable livelihoods.
Employment opportunities were further expanded through the national "EmpowerAbility" conference, where more than 250 dignitaries and policymakers discussed disability inclusion in the workforce. Additionally, 46 persons with disabilities were recruited through the Aporajeyo Ami Job Fair.
To support climate and environmental goals, tree nail removal campaigns were conducted in eight districts in partnership with the Department of Environment. At the community level, 7,130 people were trained in seasonal harvesting and eco-friendly agroforestry practices, strengthening climate adaptation in vulnerable regions of Bagerhat. The Dwijen Sharma Poribesh Podok recognised four individuals and organisations for their commitment to conservation and ecological awareness.
BRAC Bank also supported 59,653 underprivileged people with winter clothing and provided financial assistance to staff affected by the Korail slum fire. The bank invested in cultural and sports development, with 342 female athletes participating in the Aporajeyo Alo Women's Hockey Tournament. At the 13th BRAC Bank–Samakal Literary Award, four authors were recognised for books published in 2023.
