bkash offers gifts to promote legal remittance transfers

bKash, in collaboration with electronics brand Hisense, has awarded 22 lucky remittance recipients with Hisense smart TVs and deep freezers as part of a special campaign held ahead of Eid.
The initiative aimed to encourage the use of legal banking channels for sending remittances. Winners were selected based on the highest amount of remittance received via bKash during the campaign period. The prizes included 43-inch Hisense Smart TVs and Hisense deep freezers, handed over recently at a simple ceremony at bKash's head office.
In addition to the grand prizes, recipients of remittances worth Tk 10,000 or more (excluding the 2.5% government incentive) were each given a guaranteed Tk 500 discount coupon. bKash and Hisense jointly launched the campaign to raise awareness about secure and efficient remittance transfers through formal channels. The prize winners were selected in two phases.
Currently, expatriates can send money directly to bKash accounts from over 140 countries via more than 110 licensed money transfer operators (MTOs). These transactions are processed through 25 leading commercial banks in Bangladesh.
The funds are deposited instantly into the recipients' bKash accounts, and customers also receive a government incentive of Tk 25 per thousand taka received. The current Bangladesh Bank regulation allows up to Tk 250,000 per transaction to be sent to a bKash account.
Due to the convenience, speed and transparency of the process, sending remittances directly to bKash has gained growing trust among expatriates and their families in Bangladesh.
