Asian Paints unveils 'Cardinal' as 2025’s Colour of the Year

Asian Paints, one of Asia's largest paint companies, has officially launched its Colour of the Year 2025—'Cardinal'—in Bangladesh, spotlighting a dusky, soulful purple that embodies emotional depth, modern identity, and inner harmony.
The announcement was made at a grand event held on July 12 at the Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden, attended by leading voices in design, architecture, and the creative arts. Senior officials from Asian Paints International, including Joseph Eapen, Chief Executive Officer, and Budhaditya Mukherjee, Regional Head (South Asia and South Pacific Islands), graced the occasion alongside notable architects and designers from across the country.
The colour 'Cardinal' was chosen following ColourNext, Asian Paints' annual colour forecasting initiative that collaborates with global experts in design, fashion, sociology, and media to identify emerging trends. Since 2003, ColourNext has become Asia's most respected platform for colour and material intelligence. In Bangladesh, Asian Paints remains the only home décor brand conducting such nuanced trend research.
Three major design trends were also introduced as part of ColourNext 2025:
- Bad Taste: A flamboyant embrace of maximalism and rebellious design.
- Feel More: A sensorial approach focused on texture and emotional expression.
- Salt: A minimalist aesthetic inspired by nature, sustainability and tactile simplicity.
Speaking at the event, Joseph Eapen said:
"Today's consumers want more than just colour—they want their spaces to tell a story, to evoke a feeling. With ColourNext 2025, we've combined global insights with local relevance to offer a design toolkit that reflects how people live and feel."
Budhaditya Mukherjee added:
"ColourNext is a lens through which we see what truly moves people. 'Cardinal' speaks to the emotional truth of our time—and we're proud to bring that dialogue to Bangladesh."
Asian Paints' ColourNext 2025 reaffirms the company's commitment to design leadership, offering future-ready inspiration for professionals and homeowners to create emotionally rich, culturally resonant, and visually striking spaces.
