ADUST marks pharmacists day with rally, seminar and ceremony

The Department of Pharmacy at Atish Dipankar University of Science and Technology (ADUST) marked World Pharmacists Day 2025 on 26 September with a series of vibrant events, including a colourful rally, several competitions, and a grand ceremony.
The programme commenced with a welcome address from Professor Dr Aslam Hossain, Adviser to the Department of Pharmacy. Professor Dr Chowdhury Mahmood Hasan, former Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Dhaka, delivered the inaugural address via video conference.
Chief Guest Md Saidur Rahman, Secretary of the Health Services Division, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, attended the event.
Special Guests included Professor Dr Selim Reza, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Dhaka, and Md Mahbubul Haq, Secretary of the Pharmacy Council of Bangladesh. They highlighted the prospects and challenges facing the pharmacy profession, and urged students to develop advanced skills and professional competence to become responsible pharmacists.
Guests of Honour Shamsul Alam Liton, Chairman of the ADUST Board of Trustees, and Md Qamruzzaman Litu, Member Secretary of the Board of Trustees, expressed appreciation to the Chief and Special Guests for their attendance. They also reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the Department of Pharmacy.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Zahangir Alam presided over the programme. Dr ABM Shahidul Islam, Chief Academic Adviser, along with the Treasurer and Registrar of ADUST, were also present.
Distinguished guests joined a cake-cutting ceremony that symbolised unity, joy, and the shared vision of present and future pharmacists.
The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks from Ms Asma Kabir, Head and Associate Professor of the Department of Pharmacy. She expressed gratitude to all guests, faculty members, students, alumni, and sponsors — Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd and SKF Pharmaceuticals Ltd — for their support in making the programme a success.
