Bengal math team championship 2025 draws young talents

With the slogan 'Mathematics is a Joy', the Bengal Math Team Championship 2025 took place at Southeast University (SU) on 26 September 2025, drawing more than 600 students from across the country.
A total of 150 winners emerged in the junior, intermediate and advanced categories. In the team round, seven teams won in the junior category, 11 teams in the intermediate category and four teams in the advanced category. Additionally, 135 students across the three categories were awarded merit awards based on their results.
At the national level, the 'Jamal Nazrul Islam Memorial Award for Best Team of BMTC 2025' was presented to the junior team 'Sigma Cube' for achieving the highest marks. The closing ceremony featured a video highlighting Professor Jamal Nazrul Islam's academic contributions.
Eminent educationist and mathematician Mohammad Kaikobad attended as the special guest. He emphasised the importance of mathematics education for students and encouraged them to strive for excellence. Special guest Dr K. M. Kabirul Islam, former Senior Secretary of the Technical and Madrasa Education Board, reiterated his full support for organising further important competitions and for the intellectual development of students.
Invited guests at the closing ceremony included Dr Muhammad Mahbubur Razzak, Professor of Mechanical Engineering at BUET; Dr G. R. Ahmed Jamal, Professor of EEE at Asia Pacific University; and Dr Saifur Rahman Bakaul, Chairman of Aerospace Engineering at Aviation and Aerospace University, Bangladesh.
Winners from BMTC 2025 will participate in a team selection test to represent Bangladesh at the 2025 World Mathematics Team Championship in Thailand.
