The newly constructed bank building, River Shad, was launched on the Bangladesh Marine Fisheries Academy campus in Chattogram, replacing the 51-year-old Ichhanagar branch of Agrani Bank.
On 1 November, SM Rezaul Karim, minister for fisheries and livestock, inaugurated the building constructed in front of the academy's main gate.
With the inauguration of the building, digital banking service opportunities have been created for the general population of Karnaphuli upazila, says a press release.
It has also streamlined the administrative and educational activities of the academy, it read.
Agrani Bank's Ichhanagar branch under Karnaphuli Police Station has now moved from the ground-floor of the administrative building of the Fisheries Academy to the newly constructed bank structure, it added.
Rownak Mahmud, secretary for fisheries and livestock, higher officials of the Ministry and its various departments, bank executives and other local dignitaries were present at the launch event.
Jalal Ahmed Muhit, Ichhanagar branch manager of Agrani Bank, applauded the timely construction of the building at the Chattogram Marine Fisheries Academy.
Responding to the need for a building with modern facilities to make competitive banking services more attractive and acceptable to customers, the Academy completed the construction of the building at the right spot in a very short time, he said.
