Accompanied by the ministry's Senior Secretary Mohibul Haque and Civil Aviation Authority, Bangladesh (CAAB) Chairman, Air Vice Marshal Mofidur Rahman, the state minister then visited the newly-built extension of the airport terminal.

Earlier in the day, State Minister Mahbub Ali inspected the progress of the construction of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport's third terminal.

While visiting the site, Mahbub Ali said, "After Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the construction of the third terminal on December 28 last year, the work has continued without any interruption.

"Construction continued even during the general holiday declared amid the coronavirus situation. The work progress is satisfactory and the construction will be completed by the deadline," he said.

Commenting on the matter, Senior Secretary Mohibul Haque said, "We have visited the airport to inspect the construction progress of the third terminal and the preparation for resuming domestic flights from June 1.

"After completing the inspection, it seems to me that the passengers will be able to travel safely."

Meanwhile, CAAB Chairman Mofidur Rahman said, "Our initiative will only be successful if passengers follow all hygiene rules and social distancing measures while travelling. Also, steps taken at the airport and directives given to the airlines must be followed properly."
