Int'l flights from Cox's Bazar Airport to start partially by mid-October: CAAB chairman

Air Vice Marshal M Mostafa Mahmood Siddiqi, chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh, today (17 August) expressed optimism that international flight operations will begin partially at Cox's Bazar Airport by mid-October.
"Today, we inspected the progress of the 2nd terminal of the airport and the runway constructed over the sea. It appears that by mid-October, it will be possible to operate international flights partially from Cox's Bazar Airport," he said after visiting the airport.
Responding to a query from reporters, the CAAB chairman said, "Although it's difficult to say exactly what percentage of the work [of terminals] has been completed, it will be possible to start operations by mid-October. We are in the final stages of preparation for that."
During the visit, Project Director of Cox's Bazar Airport Mohammad Yunus Bhuiyan, Airport Manager Golam Mortuza Hasan, and other officials were present.
