Cox’s Bazar Airport to begin international flights in mid-October: Adviser Bashir
Efforts are also underway to ensure ticket prices remain affordable so that international travel becomes more accessible to passengers

International flight operations from Cox's Bazar Airport are expected to commence by mid-October, Sheikh Bashir Uddin, adviser to the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism and the Ministry of Commerce, announced today (28 August).
Speaking to journalists during an inspection of ongoing development works at the airport, he said preparations are advancing swiftly, with nearly 80% of the new terminal building already complete.
Prior to the inspection, Sheikh Bashir Uddin held a meeting with airport authorities and project officials. He then toured the under-construction international terminal, reviewing progress and speaking with engineers and staff supervising the project.
He noted that international services would begin with a single aircraft, with the number of flights gradually increasing over time. Efforts are also underway to ensure ticket prices remain affordable so that international travel becomes more accessible to passengers.
Accompanying him during the visit were Air Vice Marshal Md Mostafa Mahmud Siddiq, chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB); Begum Nasreen Jahan, secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism; Cox's Bazar Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin; and senior officials from various departments.
