28 more flights cancelled; Biman to resume limited Dubai, Abu Dhabi flights
Airport sources said flight disruptions have been ongoing since 28 February. With Thursday’s cancellations, the total number of scrapped flights since then has reached 423
Passengers continue to face severe disruption as 28 more flights were cancelled today (12 March) at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka due to the ongoing security situation in the Middle East.
According to officials, the cancelled flights include four flights of Kuwait Airways, four of Air Arabia (Sharjah), two of Gulf Air (Bahrain), four of Qatar Airways, four of Emirates Airlines, four of Jazeera Airways (Kuwait), two of Flydubai and four flights of US-Bangla Airlines.
Airport authorities said several countries in the region, including Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar and Jordan, have closed their airspace, forcing airlines to suspend operations on affected routes.
The continuous cancellations have caused significant suffering for hundreds of passengers, many of whom were scheduled to travel to Middle Eastern destinations for work or connecting flights. Several travellers were seen waiting at the airport seeking updates about rescheduling and alternative arrangements.
Airport sources said flight disruptions have been ongoing since 28 February. With Thursday's cancellations, the total number of scrapped flights since then has reached 423.
Authorities advised passengers to contact their respective airlines for the latest flight updates before heading to the airport, as the situation remains uncertain until airspace operations in the Middle East return to normal.
