Youth stabbed to death over ‘business dispute’ in Chattogram
A youth was stabbed to death allegedly over a garbage business dispute in the TG Colony area under Bandar Police Station in Chattogram last night (17 December).
The deceased was identified as Jashim Uddin, 25, son of Joynal Abedin, originally from Bhola but residing in the TG Colony. Locals claimed that Jashim had participated in the Anti-Discrimination Movement in July-August.
A photo and a video of Jashim taking part in the movement have been circulating on social media though his Facebook profile and posts suggest that he was a Juba Dal activist.

However, The Business Standard could not independently confirm his participation in the movement or his political involvement.
Kazi Mohammad Sultan Ahsan, Officer-in-Charge of Bandar Police Station, confirmed Jashim's death, stating that the incident stemmed from a dispute over a garbage business.
"Jashim used to collect waste food from the landfill near the TG Colony area, which he sold for use as fish feed. He had a conflict over collecting the waste food with another youth named Dipu, who also lived in the colony. Our preliminary investigation suggests that Dipu, along with a few others, stabbed Jashim around 9pm on Tuesday," OC Sultan said.
He further said, "Upon receiving information, police recovered the body and sent it to Chattogram Medical College Hospital. After an autopsy, the body was handed over to his family. A case regarding the incident is under process."
When asked about Jashim's involvement in the Anti-Discrimination Movement, OC Sultan stated, "Jashim was not a student, and police have no information regarding his participation in the movement."
