Biman pilot flies to Jeddah with mother’s passport by mistake
His passport is now being sent on a separate Biman flight to Jeddah
A pilot of Biman Bangladesh Airlines mistakenly carried his mother's passport instead of his own while assigned to operate a Dhaka–Jeddah flight last night (16 September).
Surprisingly, immigration officials at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport allowed Captain Muntasir Rahman to pass through without properly verifying his travel documents, Biman's General Manager (Public Relations) Boshra Islam told The Business Standard.
The error came to light after landing at Jeddah airport, where Saudi immigration officials detected the passport mix-up and barred him from leaving the airport for his hotel, Boshra said.
She said, "The airline's Jeddah station manager later intervened and persuaded immigration authorities to release the pilot. His passport is now being sent on a separate Biman flight to Jeddah."
According to Biman, Captain Rahman will operate the scheduled return flight once his passport reaches Jeddah.
The airline also confirmed that no flights were delayed and no financial losses were incurred due to the incident.
