At least six individuals, including four foreign nationals, were injured after being hit by a bus near a 5-star hotel on Minto Road in the capital at around 11:30pm on Monday (10 February).
"The incident took place when the driver of a Shikar Paribahan bus suddenly fell ill and crashed the vehicle on the left side of the footpath in front of the InterContinental Hotel," Abul Khair, sub-inspector (SI) of Ramna Model Police Station, told The Business Standard.
The bus driver was detained, the SI said without providing any further details.
Speaking about the injured, he said, "We have learned that at least four of them are foreign nationals and may have been guests at the [InterContinental] hotel."
Hotel officials first took the injured to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and then shifted them to Square Hospital, SI Khair added.
He, however, could not confirm the identities of the injured.
TBS could not immediately reach out to the hotel for comments on this matter.
Besides, TBS could not reach Square Hospital authorities over the phone. The hospital's hotline was also unreachable.
