3 killed in truck-ambulance collision in Faridpur
The collision caused a temporary disruption in traffic on the busy highway but vehicular movement has returned to normal
At least three people were killed and two others critically injured in a head-on collision between a truck and an ambulance on the Bhanga-Khulna Highway in Faridpur this morning (December 27).
The accident occurred at around 7:30am in the Mansurabad area of Bhanga upazila. The identities of the deceased and the injured could not be immediately confirmed.
Md Helaluddin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bhanga Highway Police Station, confirmed the matter to The Business Standard.
"We reached the spot immediately and brought the situation under control. We are currently working to identify the victims," he said.
According to local sources and Bhanga Highway Police, a Khulna-bound truck from Bhanga collided with an ambulance coming from the opposite direction. The impact left the three people dead on the spot and two others fighting for their lives.
Upon receiving the news, teams from the Highway Police, local police, and the Fire Service rushed to the scene. The victims were recovered and sent to the Bhanga Upazila Health Complex for treatment.
The collision caused a temporary disruption in traffic on the busy highway. However, the OC added that vehicular movement has returned to normal.
Legal proceedings regarding the accident are currently underway.
