Traffic to remain restricted on Manik Mia Avenue Saturday for Hadi's janaza: DMP
A large turnout is expected at the funeral, prompting the authorities to impose special traffic measures in the area.
Traffic on Manik Mia Avenue will remain restricted tomorrow (20 December) as the funeral prayer (janaza) of Sharif Osman Bin Hadi, spokesperson of Inqilab Mancha, is scheduled to be held after Zuhr prayers at the South Plaza of the parliament.
A large turnout is expected at the funeral, prompting the authorities to impose special traffic measures in the area.
In a press release issued tonight (19 December), the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said vehicular movement on Manik Mia Avenue will be restricted from tomorrow morning until the completion of the janaza and burial.
According to the release, vehicles will not be allowed to ply from Khejur Bagan crossing to Manik Mia Avenue during the funeral. The restriction aims to facilitate the smooth conduct of the janaza and manage the expected influx of mourners.
To ensure orderly traffic management, the DMP urged city residents and all drivers to avoid the Manik Mia Avenue area during this period and use alternative routes instead.
Several alternative routes have been suggested, covering Mirpur Road, Farmgate, Dhanmondi 27, Asadgate, Lake Road, Bijoy Sarani, and the elevated expressway, depending on commuters' destinations.
The DMP also requested vehicles using the elevated expressway to avoid the Farmgate exit ramp during the janaza and instead use the FDC (Hatirjheel) ramp to reduce congestion around the venue.
For security reasons and to avoid inconvenience, the DMP further advised people attending the janaza not to carry any bags or heavy items.
