Trade through Benapole port suspended for Eid-e-Miladunnabi holiday
Passenger movement between Bangladesh and India through the port remains normal, while trade, customs and other port operations will resume tomorrow morning.
Import and export activities at the Benapole land port have remained suspended since this morning (26 August) due to the Eid-e-Miladunnabi public holiday.
However, movement of passport-holding passengers between Bangladesh and India has continued as usual, said Benapole land port Acting Director Ruhul Amin.
Aminul Haque, vice-president of the Benapole Port Importers and Exporters Association, said all import and export activities between Bangladesh and India through the port were suspended today due to the public holiday.

Import-export activities, along with customs and other port operations, will resume from Thursday morning, he said.
Ferdous Hossain Khan, officer-in-charge of Benapole Immigration Police, said the movement of passport-holding passengers between the two countries remained normal despite the suspension of trade activities.
However, the empty Indian trucks that had unloaded goods at the port would be allowed to return to India, he added.
