TBS's Jahidul Islam wins Best Urban Reporting Award 2025
Environment, Forest and Climate Change Ministry Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan handed over the award at the Cirdap Auditorium in Dhaka today (6 September)

Md Jahidul Islam, staff correspondent of The Business Standard, has won the Best Urban Reporting Award 2025 in the urban planning category.
He received the award for his two-part special report on Dhaka's canals — "Plight of Dhaka's canals: Ravaged by encroachment, pollution, urbanisation" and "Plight of Dhaka's canals: How agencies failed to protect our waterways."

Environment, Forest and Climate Change Ministry Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan handed over the award at the Cirdap Auditorium in Dhaka today (6 September).
The Urban Development Journalists Forum, Bangladesh (UDJFB) has been organising this award annually to recognise excellence in urban reporting.
This year, six journalists were honoured across five categories.
Other awardees include Rahat Hossain of Protidiner Bangladesh for reporting on service and public suffering issues, and Rashidul Hasan of Daily Sun for exposing irregularities in service organisations.
In the television category, Kafayet Ullah Chowdhury Shakil of Banglavision and Delowar Hossain Dolon of Ekhon TV jointly received the award, while Nazmul Sayed of Independent Television was recognised in the investigative category.
