'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' swings in as 2nd fastest film to $1b

The fourth instalment of Tom Holland's Spider-Man franchise webs up the box office, officially becoming the highest-grossing movie of the year with $1.26 billion in worldwide earnings. The film is the fourth movie in 2026 to cross the $1 billion mark, following "The Super Mario Galaxy Movie" ($1.01 billion), "Michael" ($1.02 billion) and "Toy Story 5" ($1.07 billion).
