Six arrested as coast guard foils smuggling attempt to Myanmar
The information was confirmed by Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq, media officer of the Coast Guard, on Saturday night, 6 December 2025.
He stated that a special operation was conducted by Coast Guard Station Cox's Bazar at 1am on Saturday in the area adjacent to the Bakkhali River in Cox's Bazar, acting on confidential information.
During the operation, a suspicious fishing boat was searched and six suspected smugglers were arrested with a large quantity of daily essentials and medicines worth approximately Tk7 lakh, which were allegedly being smuggled to Myanmar to evade customs and taxes.
Further legal action regarding the seized boat, evidence and detainees is ongoing.
He added that the Coast Guard would continue such operations to prevent smuggling.
