Sheikh Russel Park to be renamed after Shaheed Wasim, the first martyr in Ctg during student movement
Chattogram Mayor Shahadat Hossain has announced that the Sheikh Russel Children's Park in the city's Ambagan will be renamed after Wasim Akram, the first martyr in Chattogram during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
"We are yet to name a park after any of those who were martyred in the last 16 years in the movement for the restoration of democracy and in the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement. Therefore, we are renaming this park after Shaheed Wasim Akram," he said after visiting the park today (19 November).
"We received complaints that the park remains closed most of the time and when it does open, less people go there due to garbage lying around. I visited the park and spoke to the locals to confirm the allegations.

"We will clean the park and open it up for everyone," Shahadat said.
