Teen dies of stroke, two injured during BNP rally in Chattogram
Meanwhile, two people were also injured due to crowd pressure at the rally.
One teenager died after suffering a stroke, while two young men were injured due to crowd pressure at a BNP election rally in Chattogram today (25 January).
The deceased was identified as Saidul Islam Chishti, 14, son of Nazrul Islam Babu, a resident of the city's Batali Road area.
The injured were taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH).
Nurul Alam Asheq, sub-inspector (SI) of the CMCH police outpost, said, "Two people injured due to crowd pressure at the rally venue were brought to the hospital in the afternoon, where they were given medical treatment."
The incident occurred this afternoon during the BNP's election rally addressed by party Chairman Tarique Rahman at Polo Ground in Chattogram city.
Confirming Saidul's death, his uncle Raju told The Business Standard, "Saidul fell ill suddenly while heading to the rally with a procession. He was taken to the private National Hospital, where the on-duty physician declared him dead. Doctors said the cause of death was a stroke."
Among the injured, one was identified as Md Rakib, 25, a resident of North Mohra in the Chandgaon police station area of the city. The identity of the other injured person could not be confirmed by the police.
The election rally, held at Polo Ground ahead of the upcoming 13th national parliamentary election, drew thousands of people. The rally began at 10am and continued until around 1:30pm.
