Rohingya refugees sheltered in Kutupalang Rohingya Camp in Cox's Bazar's Ukhiya have distributed relief among 3,000 families affected by floods in Feni, Noakhali, Lakshmipur and Cumilla.

After collecting essentials like rice and lentils within the refugee camp, a team of Rohingyas distributed these relief materials to the affected areas, said the Ukhiya Kutupalong Refugee Community.

Their relief materials also included cash and various food items, said the refugee community.

"Rohingyas, displaced from Myanmar for the past 32 years, have found refuge in Bangladesh. The people of Bangladesh have stood by the Rohingya refugees from the beginning," Arman Ilahi and Saydul Huq, organisers from the refugee committee, said.

They said Rohingyas also want to be partners in alleviating the sorrow and hardship of those affected by floods in Bangladesh.

The Rohingya team distributing relief materials said their support activities for the flood victims will continue.

Mohammad Mizanur Rahman, the Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner (RRRC), however, said that the Rohingya team did not seek any permission before leaving the camp to distribute relief.

"No one has obtained any permission for the Rohingyas to distribute relief activities among the flood-affected people," he said.

He said the government's intelligence agencies and relevant authorities have been informed.
