Prothom Alo wins multiple global awards at World Printers Summit
The daily has been honoured for its diverse and innovative regional advertising strategies and its courageous journalism during the July Mass Uprising

Bangla daily Prothom Alo has been recognised as the world's best in two categories at the World Printers Summit, organised by the World Association of News Publishers (WAN-IFRA), the premier global body representing over 3,000 news publishing organisations from more than 120 countries.
As the only Bangladeshi media outlet to achieve this honour, Prothom Alo received the awards at the annual international conference of WAN-IFRA held in Munich, Germany, this evening (8 October).
In the flagship Sustainability and Print Innovation Awards 2025, only three categories were recognised globally. Participating for the first time, Prothom Alo won two of those three categories — "Print Advertising Creativity" and "Next Gen Reader Engagement."
The daily was honoured for its diverse and innovative regional advertising strategies and its courageous journalism during the July Mass Uprising, along with initiatives to engage young readers throughout the year.
The third category, "Fusion of Print and Digital," was jointly won by The Irish Mail (Ireland) and New Straits Times (Malaysia).
Receiving the awards, Prothom Alo Editor Matiur Rahman said the recognition reflected the paper's commitment to regional journalism, creative presentation, and fearless reporting.
"Through year-long regional supplements and our coverage during the July Mass Uprising, we set new benchmarks in local journalism and reader engagement," he said.
"This global honour is not just for Prothom Alo, it's a recognition for Bangladesh."
Previous WAN-IFRA award winners include El Tiempo (Colombia), The Times of India, Dainik Bhaskar, Anandabazar Patrika, Südkurier GmbH, Verdens Gang (Norway), and Thairath Media (Thailand).
Founded in 1948, WAN-IFRA is headquartered in Frankfurt, Germany, and Paris, France. Through its World Printers Forum, the organisation honours excellence in innovation, sustainability, and reader engagement in print media worldwide.
WAN-IFRA CEO Vincent Peyrègne said the awards highlight how news organisations are breaking from traditional practices to strengthen connections with readers and advertisers in a rapidly evolving media landscape.
