Gono Odhikar Parishad held a protest rally in front of the National Press Club in Dhaka today, demanding the cancellation of all "anti-national agreements" with India and calling for a ban on the Awami League, labelling it a "genocidal organisation."

The rally, which began at 4pm, saw participation from leaders and activists of various levels within the party.

During the rally, Colonel (Retd) Mia Mosiuzzaman, the party's convener, said, "All anti-national agreements made with India must be cancelled. The bail of former ministers Saber Hossain Chowdhury and MA Mannan should also be revoked, and they must be arrested immediately."

Farooq Hasan, the party's member secretary, said, "The Awami League can no longer be considered a political party. It is now a genocidal organisation, and no such group has a place in politics. We demand an immediate ban on the Awami League and the cancellation of anti-national agreements with India."

Joint Member Secretary Tarek Rahman questioned the secrecy surrounding agreements made with India by former prime minister Sheikh Hasina.

"Why is there so much secrecy regarding agreements like the Mongla Agreement, Coastal Radar Agreement, Rail Corridor, Feni River Water Agreement, and the deal with Adani? These agreements threaten the country's sovereignty and must be cancelled," he said.

In his concluding remarks, Imamuddin, president of Gono Odhikar Parishad's Dhaka Metropolitan South unit, said, "We do not want to see the Awami League in Bangladesh any longer. Those with blood on their hands have no right to participate in politics."

Other speakers included Faisal Ahmed, General Secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan South, and Saddam Hossain, a Higher Council member.
