Rashed Khan resigns as Gono Odhikar Parishad GS, joins BNP to contest polls from Jhenaidah-4
Fakhrul said Rashed will contest the upcoming election from the Jhenaidah-4 constituency.
Gono Odhikar Parishad General Secretary Md Rashed Khan joined the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) today (27 December) after resigning from his party.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the development at a press briefing at the party chairperson's Gulshan office this afternoon.
Rashed submitted his resignation in writing to Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur today (27 December).
Fakhrul said Rashed will contest the upcoming election from the Jhenaidah-4 constituency.
Speaking about his decision, Rashed said he considers former president Ziaur Rahman as his idol, and under the leadership of Tarique he believes he can work for the welfare of Bangladesh.
In the resignation letter, Rashed Khan said he had worked alongside the President as a comrade in the party's political activities, starting from the 2018 quota reform movement.
He expressed regret for any mistakes or shortcomings on his part that may have affected the party and thanked the President for accepting his resignation.
Citing personal reasons, Rashed Khan said he is stepping down from the post with effect from today.
