Police training on election duties begins in Rangamati

A three-day training course aimed at enhancing the skills and capacity of police personnel for efficient election duty commenced in Rangamati on Tuesday, 14 October.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Md Mahfuz Afzal, Commanding Officer of the 18 Armed Police Battalion (APBn), inaugurated the training at the battalion's temporary office in Reserve Bazar, Rangamati.
Additional Superintendent of Police Md Afsar Uddin Khan, Deputy Commanding Officer of the 18 APBn, and Additional Superintendent of Police (Ops & Intelligence) Md Enayet Karim attended as special guests.
Addressing the opening session, SP Mahfuz Afzal emphasised that police personnel must perform their election duties with honesty and dedication. He noted that training programmes are being organised nationwide to prepare police for the upcoming polls.
The course covers election laws, codes of conduct, voting rights, the legal responsibilities of police officers, media management, the role of police in combating rumours, fulfilling duties in remote areas, and the operational use of body-worn cameras.
The current session will continue until Thursday, with 50 members of the 18 APBn participating.
Earlier, 100 personnel received similar training in two sessions held from 5 to 7 October and 11 to 13 October.
