Over 45,000 polling centres likely for national election
331 local organisations apply to become observers
The upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election is expected to feature 45,098 polling centres and 2,80,564 polling booths, with 9,31,131 officials assigned to conduct the vote.
The figures were revealed at a meeting held in the capital today to oversee the preparation of the panel and training of polling officials.
According to the meeting details, the 12th National Election had 11,96,89,289 registered voters, 42,148 polling centres, and 2,61,564 polling booths. After the completion of the 2025 voter list update – which includes all citizens born on or before 1 January 2008 – the number of eligible voters is projected to rise to 12,78,73,752.
Meanwhile, 331 local organisations have submitted applications to the Election Commission (EC) seeking to observe the electoral process.
Confirming the matter today, EC Assistant Public Relations Director Md Ashadul Haque said 318 organisations applied before the 10 August deadline. After the deadline, 13 more organisations applied, he added.
Earlier, on 17 July, the EC issued the "Election Observation Guidelines 2025" and simultaneously cancelled the registration of 96 observer organisations that were registered during the previous election.
