Child murdered after rape in Narayanganj, teenager arrested
“It is suspected that [Saikat] was struck and killed to keep the matter of torture a secret," said police.
Police today (8 April) arrested a teenager in connection with the murder case of seven-year-old Saikat, whose body was recovered from an abandoned spot in the Narsingpur area of Fatullah, Narayanganj.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the child was murdered after being raped, police said.
According to police sources, during primary interrogation, the arrested teenager confessed that Saikat was murdered after being raped. Later, the body was dumped near an abandoned spot to conceal it.

Fatullah Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdul Mannan said that evidence of torture was found at the scene.
"It is suspected that [Saikat] was struck and killed to keep the matter of torture a secret. One person has been arrested in this incident. Investigations are underway to determine if anyone else was involved with him," he said.
Notably, police recovered Saikat's body on Monday afternoon (6 April). Saikat had been missing since the previous afternoon.
