Number of dengue patients reaches 76 in Tangail
Local hospitals have run out test kits, making diagnosis difficult for doctors

The number of dengue patients has reached 76 in Tangail as of Friday as the outbreak continues to spread in the region.
Confirming the matter to The Business Standard, Tangail General Hospital on-duty Doctor Tanvir Ahmed said: “So far, 49 dengue patients are being treated at this hospital, 22 in Mirzapur and 5 in other upazila health complexes in the area.
“Most of these patients contracted the dengue fever from Dhaka. People who just have fever are also rushing to the hospital to get tested for dengue. The hospital has run out of test kits used for diagnosis, making it difficult for the doctors to treat patients.”
Doctor Tanvir added that there is chance of a new influx of dengue patients during Edi-ul-Adha holidays.
Meanwhile, locals have complained that Tangail Municipality authorities are yet to take adequate measures to curb the mosquito population through insecticide spray programme.
