New Sylhet DC takes charge, seizes stone from illegal crushers on first day
After inspecting Sada Pathor, Sarwoer Alam pledged to restore the area to its former state

Sarwoer Alam, the new Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Sylhet, conducted a raid on illegal stone crushers in the Companiganj Upazila, seizing stones from three mills today (21 August).
The new DC, who took charge earlier on the day, visited the controversial Sada Pathor area in the afternoon.
He then led an operation in the Tukergaon area of Companiganj. The raid resulted in the seizure of illegally stockpiled stones from the "Chacha Bhatija Stone Crusher," "M/s Al Karim Stone Crusher," and an unnamed third mill.
Newly appointed Companiganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Robin Mia, who accompanied the DC, confirmed the seizure.
"The DC ordered the seizure of the stones due to illegal stockpiling," he stated, adding that the exact quantity would be determined by a surveyor.
After inspecting Sada Pathor, Sarwoer Alam pledged to restore the area to its former state.
He said, "We will do whatever is necessary to restore Sada Pathor to its original glory. We will also investigate who is involved in this looting and why and how it happened."
He assured that measures are being taken to prevent "even a single stone from being stolen" from the area.
Upon assuming office this morning, Sarwoer Alam was greeted by Sylhet Divisional Commissioner Khan Md Reza-un-Nabi and other senior officials.
Sarwoer Alam worked as a magistrate of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and also served as the private secretary to Law Adviser Asif Nazrul. He was appointed as the Sylhet DC on 18 August.
His predecessor, Muhammad Sher Mahbub Murad, was made an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) amid widespread criticism over illegal stone looting in the northeastern district.
